The West Ankole Diocese has confirmed the death of its Education Secretary, Rev Barnard Mushabe. Details surrounding his passing and burial arrangements will be communicated at a later date.
“We have received sad news about the death of our Diocesan Education Secretary Rev Barnard Mushabe,” the diocese said in a brief statement on Tuesday.
Rev Mushabe was widely respected for his contributions to Christian education. He previously served as a chaplain at Ntare School and was known for his work in inspiring young people to honour God and achieve their full potential through education and community outreach.
According to reports, Rev Mushabe passed away at Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment following an operation in December 2024.
“He had been ill and down since his operation. Details regarding the cause of death and burial arrangements will be communicated in due course,” diocesan spokesperson Bright Atuha told New Vision.
A resident of Rugarama Sub-county in Sheema District, Rev Mushabe held a Master of Arts in Christian Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Mississippi, United States, which he attained between 2004 and 2006.
His passing marks the loss of a dedicated church leader, educationist, and mentor to many in the community. Further details about funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
